Hair Stylist Merylin Mitchell, a Brooklyn Native, feels blessed to have a profession where she can embrace her love for style and fashion and transfer her talents to her clients. Although hair was her first love (starting in high school where she majored in Cosmetology), Merylin decided to initially pursue her second passion, which was dance in 1990.
As a dancer, Merylin built her career working with artists such as Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. Touring for ten years provided her the ability to interact with an array of celebrities and personalities, many who would become future clients and contacts. She began styling the dancers, models and studio personnel while on tour, and soon realized she could transition into making a permanent career out of being a hairstylist.
In 2000, Merylin returned to her first passion and attended Hair Design School, and immediately began to freelance in the fashion and entertainment industry. Shortly upon obtaining her license, she landed a position as an assistant hairstylist at the world-renowned Frederick Fekkai's Salon in New York City. She continued to freelance for Frederick Fekkai, and later pursued a new opportunity with the TLC Show, "What Not to Wear" where she worked behind the scenes as a hairstylist to show host Stacy London, Clinton Kelly and Makeup Artist Carmindy.
Today Merylin has expanded her clientele to various TV shows such as Good Morning America and Top Rated Financial Network, CNBC. She Freelances for a variety of clients and enjoys styling for Weddings as well.
